The Association of Petrified Watermelon Pickers formed on April 14, 2007, was tentatively accepted into membership in the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies in May 2007 and was officially voted into membership in the federation in August 2007 in Butte, Montana at the annual federation show. The club is open to anyone interested in the earth sciences and encourages families to join. Dues are $10 per single, $3 per child under 18 years of age, $12 per couple, or $15 per family (couple with one or more children) per year. We hold business meetings at least quarterly or more often if needed, go on field trips monthly (weather permitting). The Petrified Watermelon Harvest is the newsletter which is published quarterly.
